Denial of Service (Dos) Attack

How can make any website down ? 

The answer is by making Denial of service attack or in short, Dos.

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by sending traffic from one or  from multiple sources.

But mostly, when more traffic comes from same source, i.e from same IP Address, it will be block by the server. So attackers send multiple request to server from multiple source by using botnet . Botnet is made up of two words :- Robot and Network. And some by using scripts to do it.

After the attack the server of the website slow down and so error when someone is trying to open it. They have to wait for much time.

Attackers build botnet by spreading malware through internet, e-mail, sms, from games, etc and when user open or click on the script link virus injected on their system and attacker get access to the victims system. It may be smartphone, laptop, tablets, computer or any other device that is capable of connecting to internet.

When attackers got enough thousands to lakh system, then they use command to run all system simultaneously and send request to website in a minor second and server is unable to handle such large amount of requests instantly and server crash down.

The main goal of an attacker that is leveraging a Denial of Service (DoS) attack method is to disrupt a website availability:

• The website can become slow to respond to legitimate requests.

• The website can be disabled entirely, making it impossible for legitimate users to access it.
